What We Do

What we do:

Kyneton Historical Society is a not-for-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers. The Society has a vast collection of documents, photographs and books, and also holds old newspapers, along with various collections pertaining to groups and families of the area.

The society provides a service to the community and on various occasions organises display material for various notable celebrations. The Society takes pride in being the focal point for the history and heritage of Kyneton and surrounding district and continues to collect, conserve and preserve it for future generations.

Kyneton Historical Society aims to:

  1. maintain and share material;

  2. transcribe, catalogue and index material;

  3. provide a repository for community groups (e.g. minute books);

  4. preserve and protect paper documents and photos;

  5. provide historical information for the wider community; and

  6. provide displays for community events.
